{"id":7,"date":"2007-01-04T12:38:22","date_gmt":"2007-01-04T18:38:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/northernway.org\/weblog\/?p=7"},"modified":"2013-03-23T19:14:23","modified_gmt":"2013-03-23T23:14:23","slug":"day-of-the-magi-jan-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northernway.org\/weblog\/?p=7","title":{"rendered":"Day of the Magi, January 6 has Esoteric Meaning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Jan. 6 comes Epiphany, the holiday which commemorates when the Magi came with gifts for a newly born god-man they&#8217;d discovered through their astronomy science. \u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s fascinating they came from Babylonia\u00c2\u00a0&#8212; modern-day Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>The esoteric\u00c2\u00a0interpretation of Epiphany is fairly simple.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, everyone says there were\u00c2\u00a0<em>Three<\/em> Kings or <em>Three<\/em> Magi, but we don&#8217;t actually know how many magi there were.\u00c2\u00a0 We only say three because there were three gifts mentioned.\u00c2\u00a0 But many more of them could&#8217;ve come, and some experts suggest perhaps NINE came.\u00c2\u00a0 The other six could&#8217;ve brought gold.\u00c2\u00a0 Each bringing a bag of gold and a few also bringing frankincense and myrrh seems\u00c2\u00a0quite probable.<\/p>\n<p>I like to think of the drummer boy in there, too.\u00c2\u00a0 Hee hee.<\/p>\n<p>Calling them Three Kings instead of Magi\u00c2\u00a0&#8211; they were Chaldean Mages from Babylonia, not royal kings &#8212; was the Church&#8217;s campaign to try to eliminate any and all magic from the Bible, from Christianity.\u00c2\u00a0 But we know Christianity and the Bible is full of magic, ESP, psychic phenomenon, even mediums (ghost whisperers) are in the Bible.\u00c2\u00a0 Anyway&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>There is also a lot of significance to the date of January 6.<\/p>\n<p>The vast majority of the earliest original Christians had Jan. 6 marked on their ancient calendars as Jesus&#8217; birthday.\u00c2\u00a0 Jan. 6 was Christmas! \u00c2\u00a0So when the Church changed\u00c2\u00a0Jesus&#8217; birthday to Dec. 25 three hundred years later in order to match the winter solstice &#8220;birth&#8221; of the Sun (they were four days off since Solstice is actually Dec 21), they had to contend with the pesky Jan.6\u00c2\u00a0Christmasday already on the books.\u00c2\u00a0 They dealt with it by making it Magi Adoration Day.\u00c2\u00a0 They said, that&#8217;s not actually the day he was <em>born<\/em>, but the day the Magi <em>found him<\/em> and came to adore him.\u00c2\u00a0 Poor Goddess Mary still living in that stable two weeks after giving birth!\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0January 6 is\u00c2\u00a0called Epiphany to this day,\u00c2\u00a0meaning &#8220;discovery&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 The discovery of the god-man born among us.<\/p>\n<p>I read on another\u00c2\u00a0forum that some families keep their Christmas tree and nativity scenes set up until the 6th of January.\u00c2\u00a0 One said her family would scoot the three magi closer to the stable every day until on the 6th they &#8220;arrived&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Sounds like a plan&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>So what else shall we do to mark annual Magi Day in two days?\u00c2\u00a0 I usually burn frankincense around a gold candle, the candle symbolizing the Light of the World.\u00c2\u00a0 I have some nice myrrh, too, which I like to add in.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a bunch of Magi images, paintings, etc. from all over the internet.\u00c2\u00a0 I see a slew of images depicted the Magi adoring the newborn godling, with Goddess Sophia-Maria looking on.\u00c2\u00a0 Click on each one for larger view:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Many Images of the Magi\" href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?hl=en&amp;safe=off&amp;site=imghp&amp;tbm=isch&amp;source=hp&amp;biw=1040&amp;bih=700&amp;q=magi&amp;oq=magi&amp;gs_l=img.3..0l10.1426.1988.0.2661.4.4.0.0.0.0.119.249.1j2.3.0...0.0...1ac.1.7.img.2CENy6NUzD8\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/images.google.com\/images?hl=en&amp;ie=ISO-8859-1&amp;oe=ISO-8859-1&amp;q=magi&amp;btnG=Search+Images<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sincerely,<\/p>\n<p>Katia \u00c2\u00a0(sometimes also known by my magi-kal name, Adepta Kristyana, which means &#8220;Christian Adept&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p><!--c39bcc9e28ec5f62f6304c7b8ac6f602--><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Jan. 6 comes Epiphany, the holiday which commemorates when the Magi came with gifts for a newly born god-man they&#8217;d discovered through their astronomy science. \u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s fascinating they came from Babylonia\u00c2\u00a0&#8212; modern-day Iraq.
