{"id":57,"date":"2008-04-20T14:41:41","date_gmt":"2008-04-20T21:41:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.northernway.org\/weblog\/?p=57"},"modified":"2009-09-16T16:01:45","modified_gmt":"2009-09-16T23:01:45","slug":"cakes-wine-for-the-queen-of-heaven","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northernway.org\/weblog\/?p=57","title":{"rendered":"Cakes &#038; Wine for the Queen of Heaven"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here is what I&#8217;m up to today &#8212; this evening I am hosting our second local Goddess Gathering at the Unitarian Universalist Church where we meet.\u00c2\u00a0 I am taking two Goddess books, titles below, as well as some statuettes of Goddess to adorn our altar.\u00c2\u00a0 We will have a beautiful ceramic pot of black dirt on a stand in front of the altar that everyone will have a chance to pour wine into. \u00c2\u00a0And we will eat the rest of the Goddess Eucharist, raisin cakes (aka cookies). \u00c2\u00a0The Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) says the people poured libations into the earth for the Queen of Heaven and baked cakes for her. \u00c2\u00a0The Bible specifically says they were raisin cakes.\u00c2\u00a0 Then we&#8217;ll look at Goddess slides in art and sculpture both modern and classical (and ancient) and discuss. \u00c2\u00a0Oh &#8212; and sing a cool goddess song while watching a slide show.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the beautiful Goddess books, be sure to click thru and see the many lavish illustrations here:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0810970546\/esoterictheologi\">The Book of Goddesses: A Celebration of the Divine Feminine<\/a>, by Kris Waldherr<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/1841480479\/esoterictheologi\">The Lady of Ten Thousand Names<\/a>, by Burleigh Muten, illustrated by Helen Cann<\/p>\n<p>The second one is somewhat geared to younger readers, and my daughters do love it, but I also enjoy it immensely and have learned a lot. \u00c2\u00a0Both are excellent coffee table books for your friends to peruse, guaranteed to jumpstart any conversation on Goddess in general. \u00c2\u00a0I plan to pass them around tonight during our discussion of the Divine Feminine.
